The Alloy Wheel

New alloy wheel have the ability to dramatically transform the appearance of your vehicle, but prices can be very high some manufactures can charge as much as £400 plus per wheel.  But for a friction of the price we could transform your damaged, flaking, leaking or discoloured wheels thus greatly improving the cosmetic appearance and significantly increasing your vehicles resale value. With our process we can restore your kerbed, scuffed or corroded alloy wheels to a like new condition. This is by using our specially developed range of paints, powders and chemicals, designed and engineered specifically for alloy wheels. Our repair service should not be confused with those offered by mobile repair services or body shop as we provide a complete refurbishment and not just a re-spray.

The Alloy Wheel Refurbishment Process

In a high percentage of cases we would recommend a full refurbishment to achieve our great finishes, you can either drop your wheels or your vehicle off, and we will strip and refit the tyres and then balance the wheels. The balance weight will be hidden so not to spoil the look of the finish, we can also supply new tyres at very competitive prices.

The wheel will be chemically striped and then gently shot blasted by hand to remove all the paint or previous finishes to obtain a smooth as possible surface, and any damage to the rim or face will be repaired not filled. This is where the time is spent it’s all in the preparation to achieve the perfect finish.

The wheels are then heat treated and allowed to stand before they are primed then rubbed back to a very smooth finish. Next the wheels are painted with a mid colour coat and cured and then the final colour is applied. As there is a variety of finishes to these can be discussed when making a booking.

Finally all the wheels will be sprayed with lacquer or powder coated this is not only to enhance the finish, but also to protect the wheel against the elements (salt, moisture, dirt and it also UV radiation).

At this point for additional cost we can also offer chromed valves and can supply and fit new tyres if needed at competitive prices.

Maintaining Your Newly Refurbished Wheels

At Total Trax we do not recommend the use of any acid based cleaning solution. These are designed for polished or unlacquered wheels, as these will in time brake down the lacquer coating. The best way for cleaning is mild detergent such as washing up liquid and hot water once a week will suffice and a thin covering of alloy wheel wax will keep your wheels looking great for years plus brake dust and dirt will just rinse off.

There are many extras included with your wheel refurbishment. We offer a free tyre removal and fitting service, new rubber valves plus a full balance with self adhesive weights applied to the inside of your wheels out of sight. Please note that this is only available if you bring in wheels and new tyres together.

Please inform us if you require your centre cap painted or replaced on application, we can supply centre caps wheel nut covers for all make and model. As some centre caps it’s not practical to mask out lettering or designs.
